It looks so real, you have to watch it twice. During Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg’s set at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival 2012, Dre brought a hologram of Tupac to the stage to perform “Hail Mary” and “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted” with Snoop Dogg. The surreal image not only stole the show, but was the buzzing topic on Twitter and had people going nuts. I can only imagine the reaction of the folks in attendance.
MTV spoke with the creator of the hologram, Nick Smith, president of AV Concepts, who stated that the project was “several months in the planning and took nearly four months to create in a studio.” Check out the peculiar yet fascinating performance inside. (more…)
During his visit to Power 105, Biebs talks about a bidding war with Justin Timberlake and Usher, his relationship with Selena Gomez and how Tupac is still an inspiration to him.
It was about a year ago that I was waiting to get a haircut that an interesting conversation came about. It was a discussion about the most overrated MCs of all time. There were some interesting names that were thrown around, names from all colors of the hip-hop spectrum. There were a few of the usual suspects I’m sure we’ve all heard before mentioned during the discussion; Kanye, 50 Cent, some members of the Wu-Tang Clan, even Jay-Z. But a name that my barber mentioned had the entire barbershop gasp in a unified, horrified breath. Weezy gets excited for the 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards, scheduled to air live on August 28th, God Willing. Nominated for two awards and tapped to perform on the show, Wayne shows his appreciation by rocking out to Pac’ and Kurt Cobain in the promo.
MTV caught up with Tunechi to discuss the status of Tha Carter IV, which Wayne says is done, his mixtape Sorry 4 The Wait, expected to drop tommorow, and his newest single “How To Love” which Wayne says is touching every women. Not literally of course.
As it relates to music, I always seem to measure time by a distinct period. I call it A.T.: After Tupac.

I wake up–still full from Memorial Day’s cookout festivities– and log-on to my Facebook account to find something that almost sends chills through me. Tupac’s Back–in New Zealand. The whole blogosphere seemed stagnant for about a moment and a half. Come to find out, a group of hackers broke into PBS’ website to create the false rumor.
One day before announcing the death of Osama Bin Laden, the President name dropped Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. as he dug into the clownish Donald Trump during his speech at the White House Correspondents Dinner. It’s beautiful how President Obama is the true embodiment of politics and hip-hop.
