Former Bad Boy Rapper G-Dep Admits To Murder; Held Without Bail

Former Bad Boy Records rapper G-Dep is being held without bail after admitting to murdering a man during a robbery attempt in October of 1993. G-Dep, born Trevell Coleman, walked into the 25th Precinct in New York City on December 15th and admitted to killing a man named John Henkel. G-Dep told police officers he rolled up on Henkel on Park Ave and 114th street and announced a robbery.
Dep told Detective William Dunn that Henkel resisted and grabbed his .40-caliber gun.vHe allegedly admitted that he pulled away and shot his victim three times in the chest. G-Dep has racked up more than 25 arrests since 2003 for drugs, burglary and grand larceny, was charged with murder, and is being held without bail.
“My client is presumed innocent, and the case is going to grand jury,” said Dep’s lawyer, Michael Alperstein.
