I remember June 25th, 2009 vividly. I remember standing in the sweltering epicenter of Metro Center in Washington, D.C. I was waiting on the red line train en route to Union Station when I got a voicemail message telling me that Michael Jackson had passed away. There was a strange feeling that took my body completely hostage when I heard those words. It’s three years later, and I still can’t describe that feeling. The thought of Michael Joseph Jackson not being alive is completely implausible. (more…)

Director Spike Lee presents the latest work from the legendary Michael Jackson. Lee helmed the visual to “This Is It,” the posthumous single from the “King of Pop” that bears the same title of the Kenny Ortega-directed documentary released in October. That documentary would be a collage of rehearsal and behind-the-scenes footage from the last concert that Jackson would give before his death.

In the video, Lee creates an attributing montage of archival footage featuring Jackson that begins in his birthplace of Gary, Indiana. It charts Jackson’s exemplary journey from singing with his four brothers to becoming one of the biggest music stars that the world has ever seen.

This is the second collaboration between Lee and the late Michael Jackson. The director shot the video for the single “They Don’t Care About Us” off of Jackson’s 1995 album, “HIStory.”
