Fantasia Set To Star In Mahalia Jackson Biopic

After her Broadway run with “The Color Purple”, 2004 American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino is set to star in a Mahalia Jackson biopic adapted from the 1993 book Got to Tell It: Mahalia Jackson, Queen of Gospel. According to The Hollywood Reporter The film will be directed by Euzhan Palcy (A Dry White Season) from a script by Jim Evering, and goes into production in April in Pittsburgh and Chicago for a December release.

Cast Of “The Best Man” Gathers For 12-Year Reunion

This past Saturday, filmmaker Malcolm D. Lee and the cast of his debut film, 1999′s,The Best Man, gathered together at a restaurant in Los Angeles to celebrate the twelve year anniversary of the movie’s release. Taye Diggs, Regina Hall, Sanaa Lathan, Harold Perrineau, Melissa DeSousa, Monica Calhoun, Malcolm D. Lee, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut, and Terrence Howard were all in attendance.

The romantic comedy about a group of college friends reuniting for a fairy tale wedding wrought with secrets was a success and opened at #1 in October 1999. For more pics of the reunion, click here.
