Jay-Z Performs “Glory” For The First Time; Beyonce Makes First Appearance Since Giving Birth
Tuesday, February 7th, 2012Last night, Jay-Z performed at his first of two sold out shows at New York’s Carnegie Hall. Both shows are charity events benefiting the United Way of New York and the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.Jigga’s monumental set included a 36-piece orchestra, guest performances by Alicia Keys, Nas and Bridget Kelly, and a medley of historic New York anthems including none other than “Empire State of Mind.”
The highlight of the evening may have been Jay performing for the first time, The Neptunes-produced dedication to his daughter, “Glory.” “I didn’t think I was gonna make it through that one. It looks like we have a young star in the making. I guess it’s expected when you come from the Carter/Knowles tutelage. Even though she’s only slightly more than 72 hours old, Blue Ivy Carter, aka B.I.C., today became the youngest person to be charted on Billboard with her dad’s song “Glory.” The cut staked its claim at #74 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Song chart.
