By now, we’ve all heard what Spike Lee angrily told Chris Rock about his feelings towards Hollywood and how they treat black films. Was his ranting less about the state of black film or more about the mixed reviews he’s been getting for the premiere of his new film, ‘Red Hook Summer,’ at the Sundance Film Festival this past weekend. ‘Red Hook’ tells the story of a upper-middle class young boy from Atlanta sent by his mother to spend the summer in the Red Hook projects in Brooklyn, NY with his preaching grandfather. Now I’m not much of a baseball fan, but I have to admit this World Series was pretty interesting. Earlier this week it seemed as if The Texas Rangers had this in the bag, but Friday night the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Rangers 6-2 in Game 7. Legendary Cardinal and the team’s current hitting coach Mark McGwire feels that the dynasty is complete:

“We had to win tonight,” said McGwire, “because it doesn’t become history unless you finish it off.”

In the midst of a NBA lockout where owners and players are at war over billions of dollars, one player is getting the most bang for his buck.

The Sudan-born and Great Britain-raised Chicago Bulls forward, Luol Deng, is getting his face on a five-pound note, something called “complementary currency” in Brixton, England. Brixton is celebrating the accomplishments of the player, who helped lead the Chicago Bulls to the Eastern Conference Finals last season. “I am honored to be featured on the new Brixton Pound notes,” said Deng on his foundation’s website. “I grew up as a young teenager player basketball for the Brixton Topcats which marked the beginning of my career. So it is with great pleasure that I am helping to support the local community that played a vital part in getting where I am today.”

In the latest 2Pac news, TMZ reports that they have seen a five-minute sex tape showing Tupac receiving oral sex while rapping and dancing. I mean..really? We all know Pac had a way with the ladies, it even got him in some trouble, But out of the blue a 2Pac sex tape surfaces? I hope Ms. Afeni Shakur doesn’t catch wind of this.

During an interview at the Shawn Carter Foundation’s ‘Making the Ordinary Extraordinary’ event last week, Jay-Z finally spoke on his ongoing feud with Lil Wayne–sorta.

Jay told MTV that it’s just “sport.”

Wayne recently downplayed the feud in an interview with VIBE. Maybe it’s just not that serious. Or maybe, they’re saving what they really have to say for the next record.

LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony,Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Josh Selby, Gary Neal, Austin Daye and Jarrett Jack all came out to B-more Tuesday night to showdown at an exhibition game at Morgan State University.The NBA lockout played no part as Kevin Durant, representing the Washington D.C.-based Goodman League, scored a game-high 59 points, but his team lost 149-141 to Carmelo Anthony’s Baltimore-based Melo League squad, which included Anthony, LeBron James and Chris Paul. James scored 32 and Anthony finished with 27. Paul added 16 and several jaw-dropping assists.

ESPN reports that Mike Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles agreed on a six-year, $100 million contract on Monday that again makes the Pro Bowl quarterback one of the highest-paid players in the NFL. Mike’s story has to be one of the greatest, most inspirational turnaround stories in modern time. I mean, so many people had this man down for the count. God is good. Now, let’s see if he can bring Philly a Superbowl.

We’ve seen some of the greatest players and the greatest moments at New York’s legendary Rucker Park. From Kobe coming the summer after he won his third straight championship, to Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Julius Erving and Allen Iverson all lighting up that blacktop in their respective times. In his first time there, K.D. is the latest NBA star to be crowned at Rucker Park, scoring 66 points in an Entertainers Basketball Classic game on Monday.
