By now, we’ve all heard what Spike Lee angrily told Chris Rock about his feelings towards Hollywood and how they treat black films. Was his ranting less about the state of black film or more about the mixed reviews he’s been getting for the premiere of his new film, ‘Red Hook Summer,’ at the Sundance Film Festival this past weekend. Now I’m not much of a baseball fan, but I have to admit this World Series was pretty interesting. Earlier this week it seemed as if The Texas Rangers had this in the bag, but Friday night the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Rangers 6-2 in Game 7. Legendary Cardinal and the team’s current hitting coach Mark McGwire feels that the dynasty is complete:
“We had to win tonight,” said McGwire, “because it doesn’t become history unless you finish it off.”

LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony,Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Josh Selby, Gary Neal, Austin Daye and Jarrett Jack all came out to B-more Tuesday night to showdown at an exhibition game at Morgan State University.The NBA lockout played no part as Kevin Durant, representing the Washington D.C.-based Goodman League, scored a game-high 59 points, but his team lost 149-141 to Carmelo Anthony’s Baltimore-based Melo League squad, which included Anthony, LeBron James and Chris Paul. James scored 32 and Anthony finished with 27. Paul added 16 and several jaw-dropping assists.

ESPN reports that Mike Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles agreed on a six-year, $100 million contract on Monday that again makes the Pro Bowl quarterback one of the highest-paid players in the NFL. Mike’s story has to be one of the greatest, most inspirational turnaround stories in modern time. I mean, so many people had this man down for the count. God is good. Now, let’s see if he can bring Philly a Superbowl.
